The plots are buzzing just now with folks harvesting their hard‑won goodies — and there are some cracking barrow‑loads heading off to the car park. It’s brilliant to see everyone using the barrows, especially since the roadway has taken a bit of a beating with all the recent wet weather.
Think of it as an extra wee workout — barrow aerobics, Aden‑style. Who needs a gym when you’ve got tatties, courgettes, and a slightly wonky track to push them along?
The cabin entryway is due to be renewed at the end of September when this happens we will locate the kettles etc in the wash up area. We’re pleased to welcome another new plot holder this month — here’s to happy growing and enjoying every minute on the plot..

Chairperson's Report

Open Day
On Saturday 25th July, we held our annual Open Day. On the night before, a number of plotholders and their families and friends, helped set up the event by doing things like putting up gazebos including moving breeze blocks, setting up tables and chairs etc. An early start was needed on the Saturday to get everything ready - displaying things for the produce stall, home baking stall, the pancake stall etc etc. This year, the BBQ was organised by a local butcher. We were a bit concerned by the weather forecast as it suggested that there might be quite a bit of rain but in fact, the weather was fine apart from a brief shower of rain. By 10.45 a.m. we were all set to go and people started arriving. It was great to see so many coming along to support our day. All the stalls did very well with the produce stall, the cake and candy stall and the bottle stall all selling out before the end of the day. People took the chance to have a cup of tea or coffee or soft drink to go with their burger and/or pancake. The children’s activities were popular with the younger people. Many people took the opportunity to see round the allotments and chat with plot holders. The music, provided by Ray Meres, helped create a lovely atmosphere. It was really good to see so many people from Mintlaw and the neighbouring villages and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Of course, the success of the day was due to the excellent organisation and preparation and the hard work of the plotholders, their family and friends, before the event, the event itself, and the tidying up afterwards.
